US-hyperscaler S3-compatible storage routes through legal jurisdictions that EU compliance regimes increasingly reject (CLOUD Act, evolving sovereignty rules). Hetzner — already the dominant low-cost EU hosting provider — added object storage to give EU customers a fully in-jurisdiction S3 alternative without paying hyperscaler prices.
